Alive, but more surgery

I appreciate all the people who have checked in with me this past year, while I've been struggling trying to recover from the surgery to fix my torn meniscus. It's been incredibly difficult to deal with reading about everyone doing all the things I can't do, like running, biking, even swimming, etc, so I haven't been hanging out much in the blogosphere.

Anyway, I just wanted to update everyone on what the situation is. I found out on Friday that the surgery I had in February didn't work. I am going back under the knife again, most likely this coming Thursday (at least I don't have to wait very long to get back in the surgical suite). I'm continuing to not handle things real well, so I don't expect this marks any substantial return to reading/writing running blog stuff, but I wanted to just let people know, I appreciate everyone who's checked in with me, it means a lot to know people care.

Thanks, and maybe I'll be on the road in 2010.

Yes - I hope you get some positive results - hmmmm, you should take up kayaking in the meantime, there must be SOME endurance sport that can be done!

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that. I'll be thinking about you and praying for the best!

Sorry to hear that you're still on the mend. Good luck with your recovery.

Jenny, I also told him he should take up kayaking - great minds think a like!

Also I was thinking that I could probably use a kayaker for one of the crazy multisport relays they have in the PNW.

Ski to Sea 2010 anyone?

Joe,

sorry to read about your ongoing knee problems. If kayaking is not your thing, what about handstands? Do running competitions actually require participants to use their legs?

Dude, that sucks. Hope this surgery goes better so you can run crazy Montana trail relay (or Canadian death race or perhaps something else) next year.

@Al My friend's team won the Montana relay this year. There were only 16 teams. And no running at night.

Cool, congrats to your friend's team! It doesn't really surprise me that there's no night running in the Montana relay, since it's mostly on two-track Jeep trail. I wouldn't even want to run many of the dirt roads here at night, and the two-track trail is significantly tougher. Also cattle grates.

Also? Bears. They had to wear bear bells the whole time and had to carry bear spray. There are legs that involve bushwhacking (I assume even more so if you are the fastest team).
