Yeah, so I was doing real well for a whole week and a half with the running comeback. Then, one day when I was in Austin, while out for a nice cold morning run, my knee starting hurting pretty bad again. I took 5 weeks off, then on my 5th run of approx 3 miles in length, the pain was back.
The appt with the orthopedic is next Friday. I hope it's something that can be fixed easily. I'm sick of not being able to run.

Good luck at the medic's!
Aw, Joe, that totally effin blows! I've been having knee problems myself, of late, but it's only been a matter of a week or two, not the months you've been dealing with yours. It drives you nuts, not being able to go even on a simple, short, easy run - till you're tantalized with a pretty decent run and you convince yourself you're on the road to recovery - no, more: You're all better! - then the pain hits again, seemingly out of nowhere.
If someone were behind this, you'd call it psychological torture, to be jerked around thus. But it's just sheer, random, dumb luck and you don't even have the cold comfort of having someone to blame.
Good luck with the orthopedist. With any luck, s/he will isolate the cause and tell you how to go about remedying it once and for all.
I know that is frustrating. You know I've been in the same boat! Just take it easy for a bit and see what the doc has to say. You'll be up and at 'em in no time!
Good luck bro!
